Here's where it started with a post by Tim Lederman in the Driveline forum. From there, the Stovebolt Collective rolled in.

I do not see a way to delete old messages - you get to delete all or none. I would like to keep the most recent 100 messages. Until I figure out how to do that, I will not be able to receive private messages.

At one point, Tim had 10,000 PMs. After a few swipes, using Rustoholic guidance below, he got it to a manageable 1400. Then he went for the gusto, realizing they were mostly old news by that time.

So, read on and see. thumbs_up

You can select individual messages for deletion.

Go to your list of PMs, and individually select the messages that you want to delete by checking the box to the right of that message.

See the attached pic.

Then hit the Delete Selected button and only those PMs that were checked are deleted.

Hope this helps, Dean

1,145 PMs

I guess I could delete the old ones (on-by-one) someday.

Or, maybe I'll start deleting 100 a day and be done with them in 11 days?

I have deleted 10 pages of oldest Private Messages.
I'll try remember to delete about 10 pages of Private Messages every day.

Tim, click on your envelope. This should show all your PMs. On the far right side of the page you can select by clicking the small box without opening the PM. Scroll down clicking/selecting the boxes as you go. When done selecting, click on “Delete Selected” and all PMs you checked will go away. No need to do one at a time, unless you want to read them before deleting.

Instead of individually selecting the ones you want to delete, use the select all button, then unselect the ones you want to keep, then hit delete selected. That would take a lot less time than selecting 10 pages at a time.
