First time restorer here. Im trying to get down to the frame to blast and start building up again. Curious about how to get axles off. Looks like they are only attached to the frame by a couple of small bolts where the springs meet the frame. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hy tsamm, Yes you can get the rear end off by taking out the spring pins, they are held in place by lock pins, one 1/2" nut to remove and drive the lock pins out, now you can pull or knock the spring pins out, there should be access from behind to drive them out, then remove your paking brake cable connections, and your brake flex line and you should be free oh ya your driveshaft as well. Now for the fronts it's a little different, the rear end of the front springs have a threaded bolt holding them in place, remove the nuts on the inboard side which act as a lock and then remove just like bolts. the front end of the spring has a shackle type attachment there is probably a bolt through the center of the shackle and nuts on each end of the shackle bolts the ends of the shackle bolts are a taper fit into the plates so you might have a time getting them off, once all thats off and your brake flex lines and steering components have been disconnected the front axle should be free of the truck. I hope I haven't left anything out, and I hope that helps.
