Are the ‘47-53 cab dimensions the same for 1/2 - 1 tons?
Are the bumpers interchangeable, etc? Thanks!

The cab is interchangeable for all sizes of trucks however there are minor differences depending on years like the side vent and parking brake location, but functionally if you don’t care about being perfect to model year yes any cab can be made to work.

1/2 and 3/4 ton bumpers are just over 1/8 thick the 1 ton bumper is almost 1/4 thick, the holes are all at the same places so they all fit interchange.

The rear bumper will be different. You'll want to use one for a 3600.

Some time, we really need to get a 1-ton with original/correct bumpers and brackets next to a 3/4-ton and compare.

In my own limited experience, I could not get *all* of the bolts holes to line up until I had the correct bumper AND brackets. I could get *most* to line up, but that was with prybars...and the bumper was off center.

Considering the different brackets I went through until I found a set that fit BOTH the truck AND the bumper, I am thinking the 1-ton and 3/4-ton brackets *may* be different. 1/2-ton and 3/4-ton brackets *might* interchange with each other, though -- not sure


Why? The 1-ton bumpers are as stated above -- unique to the 1-ton. The brackets may be as well. If he's hanging a bumper on the back of a 1-ton, he needs to find a 1-ton bumper -- no other bumper will fit correctly.

The 1 ton front bracket is absolutely unique to the 1 ton
It’s one part that goes across the whole front

The rear brackets look similar to the 3/4 but are thicker and stronger and the curves are different to accommodate the thickness change in the springs and the bumper itself which is about nearly 1/4 inch thick.

The rear bumper brackets have to be different between 3100 and 3600/3800, as the former frame is 48 inches wide, and the latter 36 inches.
The front bumper brackets are likely different as the 3100/3600 frame horns are tapered toward the front while 3800 are parallel to each other.
I believe the bumpers have the same dimensions and bolt pattern (I have one of each front bumper, thin and thick, but they're buried currently so can't compare), but just the brackets are different.
