I’m looking for the pickup bed assembly drawing for a 51 3800 (I don’t suppose it really matters if it’s a short be or long bed for how it goes together
Does anyone have the relevant pages of the manual they can post up?
It does matter between the sizes The one ton box front is different than the lighter trucks There is a re-enforcement rib in the center And all the bed bolts go through the bottom lip and capture all the metal strips unlike the 1/2 and 3/4 ton There are posts on this topic someplace and I recall putting some photos in it with the discussion about the differences. -s

Mar-K has a wonderful website that tells you everything you ever wanted to know about your truck bed and they will happily sell you parts for it.

If you need pictures of anything, my bed has never been apart. And the truck is here at the house today. Just pm me.

Not sure if this helps much, but here are some photo of the 9ft bed, with a schematic of the truck. I tried to post that image here but the UBB Attachment Manager doesn't support that file type.

Here is a link to my 9ft bed I built. The cross sills were original (except one), the bedsides and front panel are to specifications, the tailgate was Mar-K, pine bed wood, stingless hardware.
The photo bucket links don’t work, but the google ones should. It might help you visualize the “underside” stuff.
There are some pictures of the bed assembled further on as well. I wish I had never used photo bucket. I lost so many pictures of build details because of that.

If at any point you need something more detailed, I don’t mind sliding underneath the truck to snap some close up photos for you.
