I rebuilt my 19413-speed and installed it in the truck earlier this week. The rebuild kit came with trans-to-driveshaft gaskets. However, I have a fair amount of fluid leaking from that area after parking the truck. Is that gasket also needing RTV, etc. as well?
You need to send pictures showing the leak you are referring to. Do not use RTV. Did you check for wear issues before replacing the gaskets? Attached is an example drawing. Refer to the part(s) by name to make discussion easier.

You need to install the torque tube ball to the transmission without being connected to the driveshaft and without the seal in the collar in place. Start with 4 gaskets between the collar and transmission and move the ball by hand, If it's easy to move, remove one of the gaskets and try again. What you want is to be just able to move the ball by hand. Then install the seal and put everything together.
There's also the cork seal at the rear of the ball assembly that can be adjusted by tightening the nut around the end.
The whole procedure is outlined in the Shop Manual. If you don't have one of those, it's a good investment.

Oddly, there was no cork seal when I took this apart. Installed one after checking out shop manual online. Haven’t had an opportunity to drive it yet. Thanks for the replies!
The universal ball joint can wear. It needs to be smooth without ridges (wear path). If there are ridges, there may be gaps in the surface that the seal cannot seal. The ball must move with movement of the rear axle so there is a "fine line" between having a good seal and having movement. Add or remove seals as needed.
