Great news!
The Alderson's have invited us over to their party shop Friday evening and a tour of their collection of old iron.
Be there about 6pm and an address will be posted later. I'm thinking it will also involve some BBQ like in the past.

Saturday will be at Mongo's Garage with some demos and general talk about life and projects. I'm thinking Vicki will show off and talk about some of the crafts she is into now along with her fresh baked cookies. Maybe grill up some dogs for lunch and then the main meal Saturday evening. (Alvin can bring the Pepsi).

If anyone wants to do a how to demo, on any subject, please bring it on!

I have a new style flaring tool I could bring. It's one of the hydraulic type, we could make a few fittings .

Sounds good Craig! Mike Wahl used to do a flaring demo at previous Reunions.
I also have a new Paint less dent removal kit I have never used. Got some hail damage on the truck we'll be in and we can learn together.

JW, we should be good as far as awnings go, just be there and if you can bring an easy side dish for Saturday evening, that will be great.

Friday evening at the Aldersons start at 6pm. When you pull into their driveway, go past the house and the party shop will be down on your right.
Just follow the road around and it will lead you to it. It's a gated driveway and the gate should be open by 6pm.

Mongo's Garage is in a residential neighborhood at the end of a dead end street right next to the RR tracks.
Plenty of parking and a big shop with plenty of room indoors or outdoors. His artwork and projects is well worth seeing and hearing about.

Boy, it’s crunch time now. I know I can drive my daily up there and just hang out, and that sounds fun too. But I’m sticking to my plan.

You’ll either see me in Independence in a 51 Chevy truck, or you won’t see me at all.

Friday evening will be at the Alderson's party shop with some kind of BBQ. Wayne and his Mom Patty are great hosts and have a very wide selection of eye candy,
They have also invited some of their truck friends to join us there. 6 to 10 pm at their party shop.

Saturday morning we'll meet up at Mongo's Garage about 10 am. Hot dogs for lunch and snacking. There will be several how-to demo's including my wife Vicki's latest craft work.
Others include Shaky61 (Kevin) shows how to do nickel plate and other tips. Tut's will have a demo on brake line flaring. I'll have a paint less dent repair kit that I have never used. So we can learn together or maybe someone that has done it, can take the lead to see if we can make it work on some hail damage. If anyone wants to learn how to read micrometers, I can bring a few and John L. being a machine shop owner, can take the lead on that demo.

Dinner and meeting will be about 5 or 6 Saturday, with smoked pulled pork, smoked baked beans with some burgers and maybe a few leftover hotdogs. Oh, and Vicki's cookies!
If anyone wants to bring a side dish, please do!
But, do bring lawn chairs and whatever you want to drink Saturday. Plan on being there all day and there may be a field trip to Mongo's truck grave yard, It's only about a mile from his garage.

Sorry that I will have to miss it, sounds like fun, especially Vicki's cookies.

This was a pretty bold statement I made a few days ago. Gonna have to rethink my plan. I might still pull a rabbit out of a hat and show up in an old truck, I might tow an old truck, I might show up without an old truck.

Got a hotel reservation so I will probably be there at some point. Thanks, Don, for organizing all this.

Yes Rick, its free and just be there. You will meet a lot of like minded Bolter's there.
It's family friendly and spouses are encouraged to join us. It's not just talking about truck. it's getting to know others.

Well, Tim, it is too late for me for a lot of things. But I guess that is not one of them but for a one-day event, it is a long haul, not as far as yours but hard on an old man. Excuse #1 it will be hot and with COPD I don't do heat very well. I am out of breath just putting shoes on. I will have to live vicariously through written and linguistic reports that tend to make me jealous and last but not least is missing out on Miss Vicki's cookies.

I have and will bring some extra camp chairs (think I have 4 or 5) just in case anyone forgot or didn't have room to bring. I can also bring a couple of coolers if needed to hold ice/drinks. Let me know and I'll bring those along too. If anyone else thinks of something needed/forgotten, give me a shout!

Tim, the Reunion has evolved to be more like the Homecoming was. More up close and personal with plenty of things to see and do.
Hopefully you can make it back to the States sometime and we can do another road trip starting at the Dallas Airport.

Ron, you will be missed along with Alvin but, health and family comes first. Maybe next year you can get JDL to road trip with you?

The pulled pork is ready to shred and the beans are done.
Vicki's cookies are also boxed up and ready to load. I tasted more than I should have yesterday. She baked 7+ dozen.
I have a case of water ready to ice down Saturday morning. Dogs are in the fridge and plenty of buns are in a tote ready to load.

Still fighting the truck. The trip was to be my birthday present (Saturday). I think I will end up spending what would have been a couple hotel rooms and gas on parts instead. I could drive the daily up there, but now I’m determined to figure out what’s up with the truck. And the family kinda wants me here anyway.

I’m pretty bummed. This came closer than I ever thought it would to working out. But life goes on.

I'm in Chanute. A couple hours away I think. Maybe more I'll have to look uo the address.

An old truck and an old car and an old man do not mix to go that far. I wish you all a good time and a safe trip. Also, the truck is making some suspicious noises in the suspension. It goes in the shop next month. Yes it would be nice if JDL would drive me again but he is 4 hrs away to even start the trip, he lives in southern In. and I live in north central which is 156 miles south even before we would start going northwest. Also with a sinus condition, I have been only sleeping 2-3 hrs. a night.
