I have a 51 chev 3600. I have had it for 40 yrs. About 30yrs ago my buddy installed a small block 305 cui out of a 79’ montecarlo and used the original radiator. It has always run a little hot when the temperature outside is hot. I recently moved to Phoenix where HOT IS HOT. I need some advice on which new radiator will work keeping the 305 from overheating. I see a lot of new aluminum radiators that say they will fit on line, but will they work with my 305? Thank you in advance for any information.

Yes, they will work. Get a 4 row and if you want the “look” paint the tank flat black. You may have to hunt the hose rack at your local parts store but the radiator itself will bolt right in if ordered for a ‘51.

I recently installed a 350 in my 51 truck and I used a Cold Case brand radiator with a electric pusher fan in front of it and I'm also using a 4 blade mechanical fan in conjunction with the electric. It runs cool with no issues here in the south and we've had some hot days here lately. As far as hoses I used a top radiator hose from a late 50's truck with a V8 and on the bottom I reused the hose from my 261 just had to shorten it a bit. Hope this helps.

JohnL Learned to turn out hose adapters 2 different sizes so you can get a hose 90 degree ell and swivel to fit up a lot of applications. that way if you blow on the road any parts store can help you,screwdriver,hose,antifreeze ,your back on the road !!
