Hi

I have a 49 3600 with a 4 speed I'm Assuming it is a SM420

I have a weird problem while driving the truck today I came up to a stop the clutch didn't disengage when I pushed the clutch it only happens some times, other times it works normal
Any Idea what I should look at

Thanks John

So you pushed the pedal in order to stop and the car stayed in gear, presumably stalling?

Are you able to shift out of gear or is the lever stuck in position when this happens?

How much pressure is required when you step on the clutch? easy , hard? When the clutch won't disengage does the pedal feel firm, light, same as always?
How new or old are all the cluthc components? throw out bearing pilot bearing, clutch , pressure plate, etc?

A worn throw out bearing is my first suspicion (also known as the clutch release bearing).

This is basic stuff off the top of my head.
With the truck parked and engine off. Chock the wheels. Have someone push in the clutch pedal while you look at the clutch arm.
If the arm doesn't move much or at all, check that the jam nut is not loose. If that looks okay and there is plenty of movement, it's internal.
Take it to the repair shop. If you want to do it yourself, look here:

I'm not sure about the clutch components I bought the truck last fall I have driven it about 125 miles this year
The clutch pedal pressure hasn't changed when it stuck I was able to get it out of gear I pulled it in to a parking lot with the trans in first gear and clutch in I cranked the engine and it creaped forward
I went in to the store came back out and it worked fine
It did it a few more times yesterday
I'll try and crawl underneath to see if I see any thing obvious
Thanks for the input

Clutch disc sticking to flywheel or clutch pressure plate can happen when rig sits, esp. in humid area. Clutch disc spline stuck to trans input shaft splines, Pilot bushing sticking to input shaft due are a few of the thing that come to mind.
