I need help in finding the grommets and oil mesh for my 235 valve cover (from one dealer). I have the 47-53 valve cover with the two posts coming through the top of the valve cover and the 3 slits at the top for ventilation. The grommets seem easy to find but I'm struggling to find the oil mesh. Thanks!

1952 6400?

The big Chevrolet trucks may have valve covers without an oil fill cap. Just the vent slits and the holes for the two studs going down to the rocker assembly.
There may be an oil fill cap on top of the road draft tube but no mesh.
Would you please post a picture of the mesh and it's location.

A GMC 6 cylinder engine may have a filter on the road draft tube but the big GMC stamped letter on the valve cover is obvious and the engine not a 235.

The 235 I have in the truck is not the original engine. The original engine is seized from the prior owners neglect and water damage.

I may be mistaken but there is supposed to be a mess that lays inside the valve cover to protect the rocker assembly from dust that could enter from the open slits? It's that mesh I'm looking for. No picture available. I won't be back to the truck until end of July.

Yes, you're mistaken. There was an aftermarket quilted felt silencer pad available that laid on top of the rocker arms for people who didn't know how to adjust valves properly, but the valve cover with the vent slots didn't have any kind of filter inside the cover. It was just open slots that funneled rain water from the cowl vent into the head and down to the crankcase pretty effectively.

What are you planning to do with that "seized" engine, and where are you in Tennessee? I collect stovebolt engines, regardless of condition. Most of them are fixable with a little work, or at least good for parts.
