What tool is used to remove the snap ring that retains the outer bearing race in the rear hub of a T170? I have tried prying with prybars and screw drivers and this seems to be futile as there is no leverage. I have searched the web and see nothing that looks comparable.
Just regular snap ring pliers, need to be 90 degrees to allow sticking in the hub. Might have to try several pair. Don’t waste time and money on cheap ones.

I tried 3 pair that I have and none will open wide enuff to grab the holes. It is about 2 inches between the holes. I did try a pair of curved needle nose pliers. They did barely reach the holes, but I could not squeeze the pliers. I did use one inch steel pipe on each handle (each were about 18 inches long) for leverage but this broke the pliers.
I was able to get it out. Thanks Ed, Mike, and 3B. I did try as suggested and unfortunately these techniques did not help. I was able to use an angled prybar to pry the ring in enuff to drop a few 16 penny nails in, one at a time, behind the ring to keep it out if its groove, then was able to tap it out towards the inner bearing. I am sure there is a tool made for this application, but I could not find anything close.
