In the process of cleaning up the pivot ball and noticed that it has a few dings in it ,has anyone welded or brazed the ball marks then filed and sanded them smooth for a better seal.

If you're talking about the u-joint ball, yes, I've welded on mine and dressed it to smooth it out. I don't think it will help a lot with the seal weeping though. Mainly the welding was done on the inside where an exploded u-joint gouged the inside of the ball and put lumps on the outside.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.

Mine has some marks on the outside close to we’re the seal rides ,looks like at one time it was hammered on .I will fill the dings and smooth out ,some of the ones further on the ball I agree with you that they are not near the seal and as long as they move nice I will leave them alone I think brazing may be easier than the mig weld, but at least it can be done thanks Kevin.Kevin

Yours looks pretty decent. I had to kind of fit mine into the transmission housing also. It had some wear spots where it mated with the socket. I painted it then put it in the transmission socket and worked it around to find where the high spots were (paint rubbed off) and sanded those down a bit. I don't have any pictures of mine. It was just too ugly. LOL.
