the "nose" (where the tip meets the center piece) on driver's side of my '46 3/4 doesn't want to lay flat whether hood is latched closed or not. Rest of the hood seems to fit/lay well. The nose will press into place with limited pressure, but pops right back up when you "let go". Only up about 1/4 to 3/8 but the other side (passenger) lays flat.
I know there are probably 1000 causes . . . . Ideas?
When I did mine I would open one of the hood sides and give it a twist by hand, close check and try again, this took a bit of guts or lack of brains to try because if it gets away from you you can ruin the hood. Dave
