Hello , I have a 64 c10 with 350 and the 350 turbo transmission with an drive line extension. It's been leaking ( slow drip) we replaced gasket seal where it bolts to trans ( tried a few different gaskets. The guy at the shop replaced the seal up by the front u joint, still got that drip. A transmission guy looked at it and did not see any cracks in the collar. ( may could be a hairline crack)

Has any one else had this issue or can provide and ideas to help with the drip?

I may buy new collar but not sure if that will fix the issue

The rear housing should have a bronze type bushing pressed in that the input yoke actually rides on. If the bushing is worn or the yoke has a groove or substantial wear, a seal won't fix the leak. It will be necessary to remove the rear housing to replace the bushing.

Real good chance it is your U-JOINT that's leaking. It's common and easy to check. Pull driveshaft and hold vertical to pour gas into spline end of U-joint. If it drips the freeze plug has a pin hole in it.

That hole is supposed to be there- - - -it's there to prevent an air lock developing as the slip yoke moves in and out as the suspension moves up and down. The fluid level should never get high enough in the case for fluid to leak out of the pinhole in the yoke. If it does, there's a faulty torque converter "anti-drain back valve" in the transmission valve body that allows the torque converter to empty itself after a few days of not being run. The fluid level rises high enough for a seep leak to happen as the fluid level gets above the centerline of the output shaft.

The quick fix is to braze up the vent hole in the plug at the end of the slip yoke. The right way is to fix the valve body leak.
