Hy Highlander, please remember to tell us the year of the truck you are inquiring about and if you could use the series designation or serial number, rather than "2 Ton" that may also help us to help you.

Hy Highlander, thank you for the information, one correction, a 1948 Chevrolet Maple Leaf 2 1/2 ton would be a 16 series

Here are pictures of Delphi(Saginaw) power steering on my 55.2, two ton truck, hub cover held on with 6 bolts. I bolted on disc brake spindles from a P-3500 HD which is a separate issue, but the arms, etc. have the same geometry. Various GM boxes are suitable, pitman arm may be reclocked by removing skip splines in arm with small 3 cornered file. Important to box inside of frame with spacers for bolts to prevent crushing frame.

Thanks for update, am I correct in thinking 1600 series (1673) is Canadian and 6400 is U.S designation ?

Who knows, I just know we call them 2 ton, hub cover is ‘tin’ held on with 6 bolts, vs. 1.5 ton cast cover that screws on directly. Can easily fit with disc brake spindles.

Hy Highlander, actually the 16 and 17 series Maple Leaf trucks are larger than their American Chevrolet cousins. The 16 series is a 2 1/2 ton and the 17 series is a 3 ton the 17 series were powered by GMC engines.

I'm also interested in upgrading to power steering.
1962 c60, 18ft flatbed, L6-235, 4spd w 2spd rear axle.
This is the best I've found so far:

I'm getting the feeling without pulling PS off an identical (nearly) truck, will take some fabrication. Lots of kits for c10,20,30 not sure one of those would work, but have to be improvement over no PS at all....?

There's a reason why your steering box is a lot bigger than the small truck box...hitting a pot hole at 50 mph with big tires, big steering wheel and a small box, what part is the weak link now? I wouldn't risk it, the liability is to high...
