Saginaw(Delphi) box can be mounted up front, outside frame with existing steer arms from spindle- Some fabrication required?

'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed. '55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Have not done myself, others have. CPP sells them.

Ed Ed, those set-ups are for the 1/2 ton trucks only...he's building a 2 ton, there are no kits for the big trucks. Mike B  | | | | | Joined: Mar 2022 Posts: 37 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2022 Posts: 37 | i've thought about this topic a lot, and i just so happen to have a few modern big trucks right beside my own 6400, and it appears that it would not be too difficult to put a power steering system from a newer big rig on there. of course, it would hardly be feasible to find a pump that would work with big riog steering and an LS, but it looks like the box itself would fit with minor modification. it would be far from bolt on though, you'd need a lot of custom bracketry and things. i've got a '96 f800 with a 5.9 12v cummins, and it appears to have a very similar arrangement, and the engine itself would be a great candidate for my 'bolt. something like that may be good to look for. | | |
