Mine has what looks like chassis grease in it. There was not a wear disc inside, so I turned a piece of round stock plastic on the lathe to make it a loose fit inside the hole. I made the disc with a reduced end tab that's a press fit into the spring. That way it will come out with the spring if I ever need to remove it.
I used corn head grease in my steering box and have a little left on the shelf so thought I ask about it.
