Picked up this 1960 c-10 for $1300 for my oldest sons graduation present (from a family member). The previous owner rebuilt a 350 and installed a turbo 350 trans (only about 15mins of run time) motor needed carb, and headers and few odds and ends. I put in a power brake booster all new lines and shoes and wheel cylinders, new gas tank, new radiator, b&m quick silver shifter. New tires, luckily I we had a set of aluminum rims at my dads. Gonna give it to him on fri 4/29 it’s his birthday. He’s getting suspicious it’s getting harder for me to sneak away to work on it. Took it for its 1st drive on Saturday she ran and handled fantastic, couldn’t believe how good it rode. Only thing left to do is wire up the tail lights, and work on getting a better brake pedal. Which after Friday he can help me with finishing it up. The plan is to have it ready for his sr. Prom.
He'll think it's awesome for sure! If you want to, compound that paint up (or let him use his elbow grease,) I used megauirs ultimate compound, polish, and NXT paint sealer on a pretty similar level of oxidation on my truck and it shined up like you wouldn't believe (mine does have less rust, but the paint should be the same.) My dad gave me mine when I was 19 last year, not for any special occasion but I was looking for an old vehicle to work on and drive all over and whatever and he just said here you go haha. It's a 1961 c40 with the 261, great grandpa got it used in the late 60s.
He was one happy young man. Here’s a few pics of yesterday when we gave him the truck. One of him (love that smile). One of him and his grandpa, and one of everyone that helped me work on it. my brother (he sold us the truck) my dad, Ryan and me.
