This past sun we picked up a 40 parts truck. Only the front half of the truck. While we were looking at parts we found what turned out to be engine splash pans. Our 40 doesn't have them and non of the old trucks we had seen did either. so these appear to be an original item that rarely survives as do many other parts. They are in remarkably good condition, compared to the rest of the truck is. Any info anyone has would be appreciated. Does anyone have these on your trucks now? Engine side splash pans were originally installed on all of the deco model trucks. They help with allowing the fan draw air through the radiator. Unfortunately, they make working on various parts of the engine a real PITA so most were trashed when the trucks received different engines. They did a great job as debris shelves. I removed them. I see no difference in engine temperature, but then I do have a 6-bladed fan that helped tremendously keeping the engine cool.
