I'm not sure if there is a demand where someone would want it or should I junk it? Suggestions? Thanks...Rob | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 1,660 Curmudgeon | | Curmudgeon Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 1,660 | Hi neighbor. I bought a well used 235, for $35, from a fellow who wanted it our of his basement. I guarantee you if my engine breaks, the part I need will cost me $100 or more so I invest in cost effective parts when the opportunity comes around. Rob, post in the Truck Parts for Sale section of Stovebolt, Craigslist and avoid ebay (IMHO). If it's a complete engine put something like a $200 price tag on it with wording like, "willing to accept offers".

Its been sitting in my friends shop in Wingate NC so there's no rush but an avenue worth pursuing.
Stay Well!

One of my Vo-Tech school students built one that way for his Chevy Nova and he and a buddy with a Firebird with the Pontiac 350 in it couldn't outrun each other. They would race to school about 20 miles every morning, and whomever got into the lead early on could stay there all the way. Jerry

How do you define "some cylinder head work?" With my skills and equipment that sounds a lot like solving world hunger. 😀

Thanks

The translation is somewhere between Klumpenkopf and Dorftrottel. 😀 If you want to know more, Jerry is the man. Not that his head is or isn't lumpy after that motorcycle accident. 😀 It's about removing head port obstructions, inserting an air-foil "lump" and increasing the valve diameter to improve the flow to the engine. Here are some dyno runs on a 292 with a stock cam. https://www.12bolt.com/65279inline-cylinder-head-flow65279.html

The intake ports on the 230/250/292 cylinder heads have a big pillar right in the center of the port for a head bolt to pass through, That is removed, a shorter head bolt is installed at the bottom of the port, and some pretty sophisticated machining is done to change the shape of the port. An airfoil (lump) is added to change the routing of the intake mixture. It's primarily intended for better intake airflow at high engine speeds, along with a more radical camshaft and possibly higher compression than just installing the flat top pistons would provide. Unless you're going racing, the cost/benefit ratio is not good. Jerry
