The starter spins the engine like crazy, but it takes forever for the engine to start. Seemed to get worse when I converted from "stomp'n start" to a key start. I don't drive it but maybe once a week. Maybe a fuel issue? Any thoughts out there? | | |

Check the voltage at the coil "+" terminal during cranking. It should be 9.5 volts, minimum. A bad ignition switch contact, or not having an ignition bypass lead from the starter solenoid to the coil could be starving the coil for voltage during cranking. Jerry

Hard starting is usually ignition related. My 261 with foot stomp starter and 12 volts starts very easily.

If I let the truck sit long enough between starts I will "lose Prime" and have a hard time starting. You may want to do this, it is an easy to see check.
