I have a question again and hope that someone can help me. Has always worked great until now.

On my Firetruck are a CAM siren, a red Dietz 211 on the roof and as a fuel pump a Tokheim 558 inside tank pump installed.

So that I can install the correct fuse, I need the starting current for the devices.

Devices:

Dietz 211, 12V, SAE -W-63
CAM Siren, 12V, Model 97
Tokheim 558, 12V

And now the most important.
I broke the sheathed cable with the bayonet catches while cleaning the fuel pump.
Does anyone know where I can get such a cable with the correct connectors in about 20 inches?
I can't find any info on it unfortunately. I only know that the pumps were installed in the Reos M35 etc..

Add the light bulb wattage up on your Dietz Light then add a little more for the wattage of the rotating motor (maybe 36 watts?). Then divide that number by 12 and you'll have the total amperage...guessing #10 awg fused at 30 amps should be close.

Mechanical Sirens never had fuses...they are directly connected to the battery with a 200 amp starter solenoid controlling them. I'm guessing #2 AWG wire size should cover it as long as it's not a long distance between the siren and the battery. There are lots of auto wire/amp charts on the internet...100 amps should get your siren spinning...once spinning the amp draw will drop to 50/60 amps...

Must electric fuel pumps are fused in the 10 to 15 amp range, so if you run #14 awg wire and fuse it at no more than 15 amps you should be ok.

Remember the fuse is there to protect the wiring, not the device, so don't fuse it at a capacity higher than the rating of the wire.

The info I found on a search for Tokheim 558 is that it was used on 1988-89 Ford F800. Be careful, we don't do Fords here.
Some trucks had mechanical fuel pumps so it could difficult to find a truck with electrical pump in a junkyard.
Check with an auto parts store like NAPA. New harnesses are $$$.

The Spectra Premium Fuel Pump C6638EP may be a replacement for the 558.
Spectra is Canadian and makes good parts.
Maybe contact them to see if they have a generic wiring harness.

If the the bayonet connector part of the cable is in good condition, why not take it apart and make your own cable?

There are bayonet adapters that you can try but you would need to know the size of the socket (BA9, BA15 etc.).

Dixon Why not just connect your device thru an ammeter to check the amp draw ?? I would then kind of overkill the fuse size so they don't give up to easily. Those fuses are to protect your wiring in a short circuit situation. You could also use automotive type breakers on those loads.
