when suspension is hung with shocks removed . So far I've been only able to find shocks to fit that are 19 in. long .
Would this damage the shocks if the suspension hangs on the shocks when jacked up .
The collapsed length is fine .

They were the recommended stock length shocks. I don't think it will hurt anything if you let the axle hang on the shocks. You normally won't see full extension when driving unless you're doing a Dukes of Hazard jump.

66660 with the right eye sizes but 2 in. to short . The search goes on .

The part number for a 1962 C30 and GMC 2500 and 3000 is 5549599. It Interchanges with Monroe 66878 . Summit racing list 66878 for a 1962 C50 or GMC 3500. It has an extended length of 23.906 in. They also list 66902 for a 1962 GMC 3000, the 2500 1Ton used the same shock, and it has an extended length of 23.875 in. The 66902 has L1 L1 5/8 “ ends. The 66878 has LS54 LS54 ¾ ends. EBay has a listing for a 60-62 C20 ¾ Ton (5552230) shock that has an extended length of 25-3/8". The 66660 shock is only 19.21” extended length. The Gabriel 82035 are the front shocks.
I think you need a shock longer than 21”.

When I removed them the top loop came off with the steel bushing still in the shock , but the bottom loop the bushing remined on the bolt so therefor made it
look bigger . It took a fair bit of heat and a chisel and hammer to get the bushing off but now an appropriate shock will be easier to find with both ends being 3/4 in.

Be sure the shock can collapse far enough to allow the springs to compress fully without bottoming the shocks out. I've been known to loop a strong piece of chain over the frame and under a heavy duty floor jack to measure suspension travel when I'm setting up race car suspension.
