^thanks

Took some time off as winter hit, but I've slowly started back at it. Working on the fuel lines the last couple of days... decided to make life more difficult and use a combination of 3/8 stainless lines with -an fittings.

Using a Rigid 37 Degree flaring tool for stainless and a Jegs tubing bender. Thankfully I don't have a lot of line to run as I find stainless is a pain to bend.

Also got some parts back from the plater... mounted the top hat and that's about it for now.

Worked on the truck the last couple of days... mostly running brake lines and finishing the rest of the fuel lines from the pump to the tank. Got the master mounted and managed to scrounge up some vacuum line to connect the carbs. Followed that up by reaming out the valve cover holes to align with the head and polished it for good measure..

playing around with some of the refinished trim pieces...

I think you need to change the name on this thread, this is definitely not a "Low skill, low buck build. Really coming together, very nice work.

Spent some time mocking up the rad and the grille pieces... Need to make some adapter brackets for the rad and will be raising the rad a couple of inches from where it currently sits.

This is looking so good! I'm currently fitting the radiator for my 1940 too and I'm having serious concerns about what the previous owner did. The upper grille doesn't seem to match up so either the upper grill is warped or the front panels are. Would you mind tossing me a measurement for the 2 bolt holes at the front of the grill?

I think I got the spot you were looking for᠁ came out at 17 1/4 inches from head to head

Ordered some mix and match jewelry for the truck that I'm hoping to get mounted this week. The math says they should fit but it's going to be tight and/or might require some minor modification to the bed side.

That's a lot of tire for your wheel well, it will look nasty if you can get them under the truck. thumbs_up

Also figured out that my shiny new alternator wouldn't clear the top frame rail due to it's body size...so out goes the power master and in goes the alternator from an 85 samurai...not that it matters since it's mounted low and out of sight...still sigh

So᠁ I got the alternator mounted and it looks like I may have to re-think the current configuration. Slight pulley alignment and possibly limited adjustment᠁ but on the plus side.. it now clears the frame rail.

The trucks original trans crossmember was cut in the middle to make way for the TH400 so the plan is to have a removable support brace to take the load behind the leaf springs. Using what's left of the original drop brackets as the base.

AMAZING! Thank you! Turns out the temporary brace that was in place was pushing the front of the skirt panels together so I had 16.5". Thank you! Thank you!

Messed around with the other rear rims/tires. Frame clearance is ok.. just need to mock up the box and fenders.
Front trans mount is nearly finished.. this is going in to tie the frame behind the front spring where the original riveted piece was removed to clear the TH400

It's hard to see in the pic but the scoop needed to be flattened on the rear to clear the firewall... it was a touch long and bulbous to get the scoop on with the filters mounted.

Progress of sorts.

Modified the original inner fender well to clear the header and add some rigidity to the fender. Wrapped the header and a couple of other minor updates..

It's also the last day this week without rain in the forecast so did some paint stripping on the passenger door. For being 82yrs old the door is in pretty decent shape. Hashtag "farm truck life" it looks like someone screwed a sign into the door at some point. There are 4 evenly spaced holes drilled in the door that were previously filled

Got my inner fender apron modified and mounted... including the welting. Wrapped the driver side header and next up is to butcher the inner fender on that side. Not sure I'll be able to replace spark plugs without removing the fenders... joy

yikes... it's been awhile since I've updated this thread. Mostly getting some small jobs done as of late...
  • working on the doors to get them ready for paint
  • modified the scoop to clear the hood
  • made some adjustments to the floor so that it clears the brake pedal
  • added the last piece of dash trim
  • mounted the throttle pedal and the transmission cooler
  • and I’m undecided if I like the baby moons on the truck

Did some mock up work with the bed to check tire clearance the 275's. The wood bed blocks weren't in place so the bed and the fender will rise by another 1.5inches, but my pseudo math calculations worked out. Wheel is pretty well centered and I have total tire clearance.
First time in a while that it looked like a real truck... until I dismantled everything.

Been a couple of slow weeks as I tweaked my ankle, which made getting around a little tough.

Finished off the fender welting, installed the support rods. Started contemplating the wiring harness routing and mounted the ignition box.

Weather is finally getting good enough to paint again... Rad also got a shot of flat black since the shiny aluminum looked out of place to me.

The finish on your doors is absolutely stunning. Do you paint for a living?
