Okay, I hear everyone talk about the rattle can epoxy primer with the activator. I have looked and don't see any. Do they also make rattle can epoxy finish coat colors with the activator in case you have some small parts you want a durable hard finish on?

I have 2-part epoxy primer in a rattle can, but don't know if there are colors available. Looks like they have clear coat.

Do an Internet search on: 2k spray can paint (I found a lot of sources).

I doubt that many of those sources will make a can to match a desired color?

It looks like the Eastwood rattle can releases the activator into the can in one burst, which means you have to use the whole can at once. Virtually all "epoxy" paints have a pretty short pot life before the chemical reaction happens and the paint cures- - - -which my friend who owned a body shop learned the hard way back in the 1970's when he left a little IMRON in his spray gun overnight. The stuff cured into a solid mass that couldn't be removed and he had to buy a new spray gun!

Eastwood says it has a 48 hour pot life once it is plungered/mixed.

I am intrigued by the idea. I have a handful of small parts that I have been working on. Some of that might be just the ticket.

Or I could buy a larger oven for my powdercoating setup and just powdercoat them. I do love me some powdercoat...

IIRC, the Spray Max stuff I have says pot life is 3 days after mixing. {on edit} I just looked it up the company info says it's 4 day pot life. They have black and white epoxy as well as the primer I have. Link I think it's a little cheaper than the Eastwood stuff if you can find it (try a local auto paint store). I buy it locally, as Eastwood (or anyone else) won't ship spray paint up to Alaska.

I just did a small amount of touch-up on my '78 fiberglass Chevrolet, I have been using PPG/Ditzler stuff since the early 70's and still like it. I used an airbrush with PPG epoxy primer and then PPG acrylic urethane topcoat, both being 2 part coatings. With the airbrush you only have to mix an ounce or two so not much waste.

As long as you have an adjustable gas pressure regulator, a big LP gas grill makes a pretty good powder coat curing oven. I use two digital electronic thermometers when I'm smoking pulled pork BBQ with a 4 burner gas grill- - - -one for the meat and the other for the smoke chamber, and I can get very precise temps that way with only two burners running and the gas pressure turned down low. Slow-smoking a Boston butt or two takes around 12 hours at 275 degrees.

They will last longer if you put them in the refrigerator between uses.

I agree with mick53, I have had epoxy primer last a month in the refrigerator
