A couple years ago my '55 2nd series Napco Suburban burned while in storage. It was a bit rusty to start with and the fire didn't do it any favors other than ridding it of any bondo or filler. Long story short I've been thinking about what to do with it. Finding a replacement body is essentially impossible but luckily I have a lot of the parts to reconstruct it, fenders, doors, heaters, dash, etc. Surprisingly I found that the Surburban floor panels are reproduced as are the other panels I'll need firewall, cowl, etc. The heat from the fire caused all the cross frame sills in the back half to sag and the body rides low and lists to one side. The frame looks fine.

Are the cross sills the same as those used under truck beds, they seem similar? If so it should be a pretty straight forward job to get it back to the right ride height. If they're unique does any body have a lead on replacements.

Apparently you asked a hard question. I was interested in responses, but none have emerged.
For what it is worth, my 62 - cross members appear to be same as pickup bed in size and shape. placement and number likely not consistent.
But it makes sense the the standoff height from the frame is the same for subs and pickups based on the alignment of the doors and front fenders. Also makes sense that the length is consistent. Sub fuel tank plays a factor in location.

I'm going to say that they are different. I could be wrong, but the Suburban/Panel wooden body mounting blocks are a different size than what's under a truck bed?
