A friend of mine is a missionary in Uganda. He showed me what they do if someone is stung by a scorpion. Here is a picture of the tool that is used to remedy the discomfort of the scorpion stinger venom.

The tool is made from a 125cc motorcycle coil, 4 size D batteries, and a few wires. The positive and negative electrodes are placed on either side of the area of the scorpion bite. The coil is then discharged. The patient feels better immediately because the protein of the scorpion venom is denatured by the electrical discharge.

From a medical perspective, this is a valid treatment for a venom bite because it denatures the venom protein. My friend said that all missionaries in his area are taught how to use this tool. They also make the person try it on themselves first so that they are not afraid to use it when a real situation arises.

I'm confused. You mention positive and negative electrodes. Do they zap them with the high tension lead and ground?

My technical description may be in accurate. Essentially the coil is discharged to produce a current across the venom bite location.
