The air tanks are leaking and will not build pressure. I need a source of new air tanks. If anyone knows a source or remedy let me know. | | | | Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 1,841 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 1,841 | Find your nearest medium or heavy truck dealer, Freightliner, Peterbilt, International, Etc, they will be able to get something. I wouldn't bother trying to repair what you have, they rust from the inside due to condensation in the compressed air.

Also propane tanks, like aluminum fork lift tanks, steel too are possible. | | | | Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,451 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,451 | Icfman Thought of another source for air tanks,we have a local fire extinguisher outfit that takes care of our local refinery. They had some co2 big extiguishers they phased out, forged steel heavy tank that would work for air tanks. Think I would coat those on inside !! | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | Icfman Thought of another source for air tanks,we have a local fire extinguisher outfit that takes care of our local refinery. Might be hard to drain the water out of a fire extinguisher tank... Mike B | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 | Air tanks aren't that hard to find. And they don't really have to be specifically for your vehicle. There is no need in trying to reinvent the truck air tank. | | | | Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,451 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2018 Posts: 2,451 | MikeB Not getting your drift ,co2 tanks are clean as a whistle. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | MikeB Not getting your drift ,co2 tanks are clean as a whistle. Fire extinguisher tanks don't have any extra pipe bungs welded to them. How would you drain condensation out of the tank if it was mounted horizontally? Mike B | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 | "MikeB Not getting your drift ,co2 tanks are clean as a whistle." I don't think this guy has ever run trucks with air brakes. I have owned trucks with air brakes since 1964 and still own a dozen of them. We have been running air driers for almost 40 years, but we still have to drain our air tanks periodically. Water and a little oil makes a nasty white sludge. I still recommend the guy go out and buy an air tank. If he were to come around Fredericksburg, I would give him one. I have lots of them lying around. | | |
