I have a chance to buy a truck. What i know is its supposed to be 1946 Chevy 1½ ton and the vin is as follows according to the title... 9PWG2041
As much as i can come up with is the 9 means assembled in Norwood Ohio. Any help on the rest would be greatly appreciated. Note. I have not verified the vin on the vehicle yet.

9 PWG 2041

9 = Norwood Assembly Plant
PWG = ??? (not a truck code in that year)
2041 = 2041-1000 = 1941st truck off that assembly line that year.

Maybe someone will correct-me and/or come up with a "translation /interpretation"?

For 1946 PWG = 6400 series, with G indicating July build.
That makes it a 2-ton 160 inch wheelbase.
That info is from the 1946 Chevy Truck Vehicle Information Kit

Tim, Tim, Tim, - Time to go back to math school. wink
2041-1001 = 1040th truck off the line.
Since they have a month designation in the serial number, would it start over each month??? Did they build 1000+ 2-tons per month back then?

Looks like i just found something similar to that, on the same site. The wheel base that the truck currently has is shorter tho? I guess its a legit vin number then?

Serial numbers are by the model year, not month.

The reason for the low serial number is because there is a first and second design in 1946. "PW" is second design, so the numbers started all over again at 1001.
