The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Extra Parts with a Carb Fuel Filter?

I got a new little fuel filter that screws into my Rochester Monojet carb. It's a Duralast FF1204DL and has a compressible metal ring for a gasket. It came with 2 black rubber parts which seem impossible to use with this filter. They have 2 different diameter posts with no holes in the posts! If I tried to use one as a gasket, no fuel would flow through it.

Does anyone know what these are for? What am I missing? Or is a worker in China messing with me?

They must be a check valve. Take a close look & see if there is some kind of flapper on it. That keeps the fuel from running out in case of a rollover.

Thanks George, There are no openings or flaps on them. They just look like plugs of some sort but the Fram version that I installed in the Monojet 18 years ago didn't have one of these rubber things. The only difference between the two things is in the diameter of the protrusion.

I did find that this Duralast item also fits some F#*ds. Who knows what those guys did. Thanks again.

Were they meant as a plug and cap to keep foreign material out of the openings in the filter?

Shipping plugs to keep the filter clean, they figured if they threw them in the box it should be fine.
