When I install my 1955 235 I’ll be converting to 12V and I’ll need an alternator bracket. I’ve read a post here that recommended an Alan Grove #224L. (Pic attached) I think it looks very basic, although I guess it does the job. What other choices are out there? I like to have choices. Thanks!

I bought an Alan Grove bracket for my alternator install. Well made. The holes on the bottom were .125" off so the belt didn't run straight. I have a Bridgeport at my disposal so it's not a problem now. But I it might be for others.
As long as there's a supply of angle iron, 1/4" flat bar, a grinder, and a welder available, I can't imagine buying an alternator bracket. Jerry

One of the more satisfying do-it-yourself projects I have done was making the generator bracket work for an alternator. It would be more difficult to explain what I did than to actually do it. Basically scrounge for parts like a length of pipe which the bolt fits in, various warshers (fabricators worth their keep say warsh), a long bolt and a nut. It really helps if you happen to be a "materials preservationist." (My wife happens to call me something quite different.) It would have taken most of the fun out of the project had I heard tell somewhere how to do it.
