Which is the a terminal and f terminal on my generator? I can see no markings on it. Don't figure it would be good to hook them up backwards!

If you can remove the brush cover, peek inside and you should see the F terminal wired to the field coils surrounding the case.

Am I correct that the relay that was installed into the headlights was to switch the fog lights off when the high beams were turned on? The new wire harness doesn't have any wires to go to it. There's also a 10 Amp fuse in the fog light wires.

Grady we don't know how it's wired. We can't see it. We don't know why something was done. We can't see what was done. If you want to get answers you will need to post pics or draw us a diagram and post it......otherwise:

Do not wire anything to the fog lights for now. Pretend they don't exist. Do not wire any relays. Forget the relays.

Wire the headlight switch and the headlights per the harness directions and finish the harness install. We will sort out the fog lights and relays after that.

I will draw a diagram tomorrow and get it posted. All the old wires to fog lights are still in truck. Thanks

Your harness comes with two relays. One for the horn and one for an electric cooling fan. You DO NOT need a relay for your headlights.

Fog lights were available as a dealer accessory. They DID NOT include a relay. They DID come with a separate switch. They WERE wired "To" the headlight switch but not totally "thru" the headlight switch.

Wiring:
Fog switch had three terminals. (Batt, Tail, Fog)
One wire from fog switch "Batt" terminal to the "BATT" terminal on the headlight switch. One wire from fog switch "Tail" terminal to the "Tail" terminal on headlight switch. Then wire coming from the fog lamp(s) to the "FOG" terminal on fog switch. They would have been 6V . Those would be pretty valuable.

You may have later aftermarket fog lights.

Wow it's been 3 weeks since last working on the wires. I think I'm almost finished hooking things up but I was wondering where to hook up the power to the flasher for the signal lights and what size fuse to use.
Also I have installed the original type switch. What is the 3rrd connection on it for? According to the diagram it is an accessory connection. There is currently nothing hooked up to it. Once all of these things chevh out ok then I will tackle the fog lights and the relay that is connected to them. Currently they are not hooked up to anything.

Would be nice to know what vehicle you are working on. Not everything wires the same.

Grady, every time you have posted on this thread, we, including me, have responded on the same day. Including this time. Since your first post on Sept 20, 2021 you have left the conversation 7 times. You leave for a long time.

4 1/2 months for a small issue. Each time we have to go back and read what truck you have and read all that has been said and tried, what parts you are using and etc.. (5 pages so far). All troubleshooting continuity is lost. All thinking is lost. All memory is lost. All research is lost. I will let others kick this can down the road this time. Some new blood won't hurt.

I understand your point. I wish I could just stay at the project but other priorities take over. I don't like it either as then it takes me time to figure out where I left off and what else needs to be done. I really appreciate all the help you all have given me.

The ignition switch has one terminal that is hot all the time. The other two become hot when switch is turned on. You can use the other two for anything you want to be switched. Including the turn signals/flasher power. Use a 7.5 Amp inline fuse.

Please DO NOT just say switch. Say Ignition switch, turn signal switch, headlight switch, fog light switch, etc !!!!!!

Finally finished. Everything works fine. Great sense of accomplishment for me. As I have always struggled with electronics. Thank you all for all the helpful information. Just have to tidy up Everything now that I know things work. The wife was even impressed that we have turn signals now. Thanks again. Have to get fog lights hooked up yet but that will be another day. I will ask for help in another thread when I'm ready to start and finish.
