On putting in new studs and of course the very last one it dropped right in and fell back out. The spliced threads in the hub are rounded out. Is the hub made out of cast steel? If so I could tack weld the stud front the front of the hub.
I hope I can do something without resorting to a new hub. Any ideas?

I would be careful about trying to tack weld a stud in place. Another alternative would be to get the hub hole welded and redrilled. Assuming you can find someone to do that for you. But hubs shouldn't be that hard to find, so replacing it would be the best approach.

They are made to be swedged, probably what happened someone didn't cut the old swedge off before driving out !! | | |
