Looking for some help identifying the PTO pump for my 59 GMC dump truck. Scraped off several years of funk and found the numbers 12572. I am needing to see about replacement seals and parts for it. Thanks for any help.
The ram assembly looks very similar to a Hercules model, but as 3B stated, the logo does look like IHC.
In actuality, I seriously doubt that you will ever find replacement parts. Most of the ram and actuator shafts use a more ubiquitous type of rope seal very similar to the packing of old time house plumbing faucets. When I resealed my 1941 Hercules ram, I sourced 2 different diameters of Teflon packing from McMaster Carr.
Dirtdevil I think my 48 2 ton has that same system,when it came to me leaked around the control shaft. There was a screw worn off that let the shaft move out,not much , replaced it ,fixed it !! Easily lifts 8000 lb.white rock,spread it on the driveway. Makes you feel good when you don't have to scoop !!! Go to the pit get in line with the big boys,get scale ticket,clip it on the dash !!! Then haul !!
PaulWNC My predacessor 44 years ago had a big roll of graphite packing handy at all times,you could peel it down to whatever size you needed. That was when you could fix stuff,before everything went plastic. His 54 3600 was 24 yrs. old then and had been kept-up that way!
Good luck. It could be a Hurcles, St. Paul or any manufacturer. Back in the day dump beds were a dealer install and they used quite a few different brands. If it's a St. Paul the brand and model number will be on the top of the ram cylinder towards the back. Nothing on the pump. You can repack the input shaft on the pump and also on the ram. Use graphite impregnated packing rope or Teflon. I used the graphite rope that's been around for years. If there's a problem in the pump like a broken impeller you're probably out of luck finding parts.
