I have just purchased a kit to rebuild the Delco master cylinder on my 1940 pickup. When I set out the parts, there is an extra rubber piston/washer that was not in the pieces I pulled out. can someone please point me in the direction of an exploded diagram or photo of the assembly order of the pistons, pushrod, check valve, spring, etc.
Many thanks in anticipation, Riggles, Australia.

The round rubber washer goes on the big nut on the rear end of the MC. It is the seat for the check valve on the end of the spring.

Men, thanks very much for the info. George, I don't know how I didn't see the washer in the end, must have had an eye closed! I have now got it all together & will start & put it all together over the next couple of days. I have printed off the diagram of the master cylinder, so my sons will have something to help them in the years to come.
I am making a new sound deadening layer to fit under the floor mat, which should also reduce some heat coming up from underneath.
Once again, thanks for the help. The help & advice I have received over the last few years has been great, and I tell friends what a great forum this is.

George, one thing I don't see on the diagram of the master cylinder assembly (as in the links sent by joe apple), is the shim washer which was between the piston cup & the end of the piston with the small radial holes. Is it supposed to be there? There was one fitted when I pulled it all apart, and there was a new one in the kit. Is it an omission on the diagram?
Thanks again, Riggles

Its been a long time but it seams like that is part of the piston. You put it in there I suppose. There are 2 small bypass holes in the bottom of the reservoir. Make sure they are open. One is very small. You may need to run a tag wire through it.

It's all done and once again, the little Red truck stops as good as some of the late models. The power booster under the floor really helps. Thanks again men.
