Started working on hood for my 37 truck. Lots of pitting and cracks to repair. Decided to take rivets out for latching mechanism and chevy emblem because many rivets are loose and so much rust.
New to body work. Wondering the correct sequence for assembly and paint.
I plan to weld, grind, sandblast, epoxy prime, polyester fill, block sand, seal then urethane.
What I'm not sure of is when to put rivets back in.
On passed projects riveting on paint layers has causes some distortion and rework.
Putting rivets in before paint causes alot of sanding issues
What does everyone else do? else do?

The rivets need to go in after metal straightening is done and before paint. Yes they are a PITA to sand around but it is what it is.
