I have an interesting, and possibly boring thing I noticed on the Tech Tips. Item 7, Shifter & Parking Brake. (First let me make it clear, I appreciate the work to put together this Advance Design Overview!)
I am not sure what year 3/4 and 1-tons got the foot actuated parking brake. My first 1950 3600 I bought in 1999 had the hand actuated parking brake and no pedal. My second 1950 3600 I bought in 2003 had the pedal. I think the 1999 was built in April (D) and the 2003 built in July (G), if I remember correctly. Do you think there were rolling changes not fully documented? What do others have in their trucks? Was mine with the hand brake a fluke?

I have 47-48 GMC trucks. In 47 all had hand brake on the floor. In 48 the 3 speed went to a column shift with a foot pedal brake. The 4 speed stayed as a floor shift with a hand brake. Not sure if Chevy followed that same timeline. Is it possible your two trucks had different transmissions/ shifters?

Thanks Twin Jimmys. Both trucks were 4-speeds. It’s a mystery, but many things happen in 50 – 70 years.
