I am on a quest o properly identify this engine. The casting numbers don't seem to match any of the resources I have found as the prefix is odd. The best I can determine is the id number is N197365CAZ
Tom, the stamped engine numbers on Candian engines follow a different format, and documentation is a bit sparse (or it may be a rebuilder's stamp if that doesn't pan out).
Check for the actual block casting number - low on the block and forward of the distributor, possibly forward of the fuel pump - which will be in raised numbers. The Canadian block casting numbers are also different than for US-manufactured engines, so much of the online info may be of limited value. There should also be a casting date code just behind and slightly above the starter in a letter-number format that will help. If you post those casting numbers, perhaps someone with Canadian documentation can ID.
