Hello,
I’m replacing the wiring harness in my 49 3600 and have found a discrepancy in the Jim Carter directions and the internet.

The instructions say to connect to the amp meter + terminal on the drivers side of the gauge.
The internet says the passenger side is the + terminal.

If you are looking at the back of the gauge, I have 2 posts on the amp meter. I’ll call them 9 and 11 o’clock. 9 is the back side of the C end of the gauge and 11 is the D end. My original harness has 2 wires on the 11 o’clock post and 1 on the 9 o’clock.

What is correct?

I'm going to attach two files , one pdf , showing the gage cluster and one is a wiring diagram for a 1949 Chevy Truck. Both were colorized by another stovebolt member whose name I have forgotten. On the wiring diagram ignore the turn signal wiring if not applicable. Hopefully these will help with your question. Short answer is the minus (- ) is at 11 o'clock and the plus (+) is at 9 o'clock. I'm making an assumption that the "new " wiring harness is color coded to nearly match the original. I'm not an expert, but PM me if you have specific questions and I'll try to help.

Thanks!
It looks like a typo on the directions.
Wires 2 & 23 are in question. I’ll reverse their locations.

buoymaker - Thanks for pointing that out, Scott did a great job. I saved his file for future reference and use and was able to send it forward. Thanks again !

I'm glad my drawings helped. I submitted them for the tech tip section when I first posted them but they never showed up there....
