Hi,

I have a 1955 chevy truck with a 265. Working on getting it running again. I bought a new fuel pump but had questions regarding the connections. On the inlet into the fuel pump, was there a rubber hose connection between the hardline running to the tank and the fuel pump or did the hardline tube go directly into the fuel pump. For the outlet that goes from the fuel pump to the carb, was there a brass fitting between the tube that goes to the carb or was it connected directly to the fuel pump? Can someone send pictures of their setup please.

Thx

No pictures, but yes, you need a flexible line between the frame and the pump since the engine is mounted on rubber and it moves enough to fatigue and break a hard line. There should be a brass fitting threaded into the pump housing to adapt the pipe thread in the pump to a 5/16" inverted flare on the steel gas line. Most real parts stores like NAPA will have a good assortment of brass fittings- - - -not so much the DIY places. They will also have the steel line you need from the pump to carb, and a loaner or rental tubing bender to route it correctly.
