Still have torsion bars but swapped in disc brakes and 3.73 rear end last year so I'm on 6 lug wheels not 8. Tooling over to the big box, I started hearing random bangs from underneath at about 35-40 Mph. Like a hammer dangling on a string and just hitting stuff. Nothing's visibly loose but the ride height was visibly lower since the last time I took a good look. Put a turn and a half on the torsion bar adjusters and greased all the joints I could get the gun on in the driveway. ball joint boots torn on drivers side upper and passenger lower. Fairly new ball joints but I did a lot of hauling dirt and crush'n run last year. Is it possible the torsion bars decided 60 was their last birthday? I used to have a platoon of M60 tanks and a torsion bar cracking at night was a memorable wake up call. Don't see anything listed if I have to source a pair. I'll focus on the ball joints for now--I know they sound off pretty well if they start to go. Thoughts?

If you're using some sort of a wheel adapter you might have one failing under the load. Jerry

Rear end change also went from 8-6 lug. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 | So you turned a C-20 into a C-10, right? Unless you can find some "new old stock" torsion bars somewhere, it's doubtful you're going to find replacements. Jerry
