Recently I found the stock ventilator assembly and PCV valve and tubing. I have a 58 step van with a 261 and thought it was kismet. I went to install it and the tubing doesn't quite reach the (updraft) manifold inlet/wiper port. I thought about adjusting the bends in the tube and it may reach. My question is should I abandon the tubing and use hose, and does updraft carburation work with stock the PCV system? Thanks in advance for all advice and or suggestions.
Use a couple of brass compression couplings and add a short length of tubing- - - -steel or copper doesn't matter. Trying to straighten bends on that steel tubing will be a disaster. There's no reason a PCV shouldn't work on an updraft manifold. Jerry

I took your good advice Jerry. Problem is I cannot locate a coupling with the correct thread size. It's a fine thread and nobody seems to carry it. People guess metric and I assure them it's not. Does anyone know what thread size that goes into the the large bolt for accessories? Wipers and PCV.
That's an "inverted flare" fitting. Measure the outside diameter of the tubing that plugs into it and get the appropriate sized inverted flare nut. Then you'll need to find someone with a double flaring tool the right size. I was suggesting cutting the tube that goes into that fitting and splicing in a short piece of tubing to extend what's already there. You would need two compression couplings and a short piece of tubing to do that, hardware that's available at any big box hardware store.

IPS could mean Iron Pipe Size in some references. Formally known as NPT - American National Standard Taper Pipe Thread or NPS - American National Standard Straight Pipe Thread (Both under ANSI B1.20.1)

All the inverted flare nuts I've ever measured had straight threads, not tapered like an NPT. The small rounded seat below the threads in the fitting in the photo is a dead giveaway that the fitting is an inverted flare. The male and female threads on the same fitting are both taper-thread NPT. Jerry

Kk I looked it up It literally is a straight thread version of pipe threads Which is why it usually threads a turn or two with pipe fittings before jamming
