My guess is it’s for Chevy distributors. It’s got everything you need. A feeler gauge, screwdriver, two different sized tools for split nuts like the one’s on a 216-235-261 distributor and a scale to boot!

BC59 Don't sell it's the Holy grail,that is a real dandy !! I don't covett it too much cause I use alternator and HEI ignition. It is a rare and fun item to show to your pals !!

It came from my mom's stepfather, he gave my a bunch of tools when I graduated from high school. He was an old time mechanic / machinist. An old friend whose father was his buddy told me at one point he would go to shops around the Portland area turning crank rod journals, babbitt & resize rods to fit then on to the next shop to do the same. He had carbon monoxide poisoning, would have to put on a gas mask to be anywhere near exhaust. got better near the end of his life but I have always been the shop nag, "put a hose on it!" Still use several of his tools but have never seen a electrolock system up close.

BC59 In about 1970 I finished off the portable grinding era like you described,the high compression engines were just too much for a portable grind to work. Had a hand lathe that would bore babbitt rods slick as could be any size too. Took me a while to figure it out,we had a bin full of semi-finished 216 rods. Wish we had em now--however we can't live in the past forever !! LOL
Massey-Ferguson Perkins Diesel rod bearings work in bored-out Babbit rods- - - -STD diameter Perkins bearings are 60 undersize, so those worn out 30 under crankshafts can be salvaged. I use a milling attachment to hold the rods and a micrometer boring head in the spindle of my lathe to bore the rods a few thousandths undersize and finish off the bearing bore with a Sunnen hone.
