Hi all:
On the Chevrolet Division tag on the passenger side of the engine bay, normally covered when the hood is closed, I see a tag.
This is a 1942 1.5 Ton Chevy and the tag has a model number, and a Master number. If anyone knows what the Master number
indicates please let me know. Also, it looks like the VIN is the Engine Number for the 1942 Chevy's. I bought the truck from the
son of the original owner, but the title was lost years ago. I hope to prove it's a 1942 when I go to register it. Any comments?
This truck is bone stock, complete, and without modifications.

Since you haven't seen the title yet you really don't know if the title has the engine or vehicle serial number on it.

The vehicle serial number should look something like this; 3MR061234

3 = Assembly Plant (1 = Flint, 5 = Kansas City, 14 = Baltimore)
MR = 1942 134" wheel base truck (MS = 1942 160" wheel base)
06 = Month
1234 = unit number starting with 1001

As fixite7 said, save yourself LOTS of heartburn and have the seller ask for a duplicate title.
