Dropped it. Shattered in to a bunch of tiny pieces. Optional bullet light, Suburban/Panel. 3" round. Was changing a bad bulb. Thought I had a spare but I don't. Need it by Saturday. Did an over night order with Chevs of the 40's. They called today and said they have been out of stock for 5 months and no resupply on the horizon. Guess what I did for a small part of my afternoon? Glued the shards together. It'll have to do until I get my own spare supply!

I happen to LIKE glass lenses. With plastic if they get cloudy or crazed they're done for. With glass just soak them in lacquer thinner or acetone, brush with soft brush, paint inside with high heat red, make a new gasket and you have a brand new looking unit. Nothing wrong with glass but you might do a search for agility lessons.
I prefer plastic over glass because plastic lets more light through. I changed my 38 over to plastic and the difference was noticeable.

MNSmith You can take plastic and warm it up in your oven and let it settle into a metal mold till you can get the right thing. Pill bottles work for amber.
coilover I like glass but am kinda klutzy and just liable to break it on the concrete. Since old aurthur (arthiritis) kinda got in the picture,just glad I can still cruze it and work on it. Getting kinda shakey to mig and stick weld too !!
If you are afraid of klutzyly dropping the lens (a realistic concern/fear) when installing or removing the lens, place a packing blanked or thick towel/blanket on the ground under the lamp.
