Our local Home Depot, Lowes and Harbor Freight haven't been able to get come-alongs for months. They must be sitting in a container ship somewhere on the West Coast. I have a couple other options....maybe.

Interesting. I just checked Lowes and Home Despot up here in Alaska, and they say "Not Available Locally" and "Not Available Online".
Good thing I already have two of them, one cable and one rope.
The local hardware chain, Alaska Industrial Hardware, has them in stock though.

News flash, there is a national shortage of many things. If you need something critical for your Family, your house, your health, your transportation, buy it now. Also, prices are rising rapidly on many items. Like 50%. USPS went up also. Better start being aware. China supplies stuck off shore at Port of L.A. Made in America stuff has a worker problem. Covid, mandates, unemployment benefits, unions striking. Made in America has a material supply problem at Port of L.A. This is not a short term situation. Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon contracting with container ship companies. Some seldom used ports may get re-rigged for docking.

I say let the Marines, Air Force, Army and the Navy handle it. There are some epic examples of that in history.

Well-stated, bartamos - just the facts (I/we do not want to get into the politics/profits/losses/BS resultant from several of your factors).
