I had one of those but lost it when the entire front plate fell off from mounting bolt fatigue. I remember wondering what I ran over. When I got to my destination, I saw it was gone. I went back to find it but it was on the beach road on a weekend and it was gone. I was heartbroken at losing the topper and my Dad's CBI plate.

My guess is that the topper is a collectors' item - people who bought one (or who bought two, like me) will most likely want to keep it for their truck/trucks.

The topper is VERY cool. I would stand in line for the next round of them. I bet they would go like hotcakes topped with homemade maple syrup!

I haven't looked into 3-D printers. I wonder if these could be made on one of them?

Pretty much anything can be made on a 3D printer. But the ones that make things in metal are WAY expensive. But those could be done in plastic.

Yes, I was thinking of plastic. I suppose you probably have to add paint later.

I would be interested in a couple toppers. I sent an email to Wizzerrick and have not had a response. I asked if he had any plans to make any more of them.

This conversation pops up every few years. A few years ago Fred auctioned his off as a fund raiser for the site if I remember right. If my thinker isn't letting me down the winning bid was pretty substantial. I know very little about 3D printers other than what I've seen on TV & the web. I've seen 3D printed items that were very rough and items that appeared to be highly finished. I'd be interested in buying one if they're closer to the "finished" end of the scale.

I've seen a few 3D printed things that were multi-color and with nice finishes. I've got enough toys to mess with otherwise I might consider getting a 3D Printer.

Plastic ones wouldn't look as vintage as the ones cast in aluminum, though.

We've had a few folks over the years express interest in doing another run of Stovebolt Toppers. The deal I have made with them is that any new run would have to be a different or modified design that would not be confused with the original run. It would not have to be very different to be different.

At any rate, we have not seen anything come of it yet. You are welcome to do it, but all we ask is that the design be different enough that it can not be confused with Whizzerrick's limited run -- i.e., please do not copy it exactly.
