Just received new wheel bearings purporting to fit the 3600 (1949) - but they are significantly smaller in diameter on both the spindle and inside the hub.
My spindle (for the inner bearing) measures 1.840"; outer seems to match what they sent at ~0.840" or thereabouts - I can't locate the dimensions on the Google - anyone know offhand if that is correct, or if someone in the depths of time has swapped in some other 8 lug spindles?
Anything coming from the states these days is taking forever to get up to where I am, so this is a little frustratin' lol
Edit: May have answered the first part of the question; on another post here I found that the spindle should measure 1.4060 - so mine have indeed likely been swapped out for something else... now I gotta figger out from WHAT
2nd Edit: SOLVED! First of all, self, learn to read your caliper - it was 1.38" not 1.838" (I rounded up). Second of all, I found a # on the inner race - matches up to a 53-59 hub. So that's what I have! That should also mean I can actually find front brake drums??? <<<=== not without changing the backing plate. Oddly the drums that are on there are 11x3" (I know my measuring credibility is shot now
but triple checked that. The shoes are the correct part # for the 1949, and they work). It's still Huck up front and they work fine, so I'm not looking to necessarily change anything at the moment but it would be great to know what the heck to buy if I need a drum. Someone long before me had changed the rear brakes to an early 70s Ford, that was another parts rabbit hole to sort out, that I got sorted last year.
