ok, the best book i had for my '55 chevy (sorry, wasn't a truck) was a reprint of the factory shop manual. i've seen them available, shop and assembly manuals, for the '59 trucks, but have an obvious question - do the ones out there have decent coverage of the big trucks, or no?

i figure as long as i have to pull an engine, i might as well yank all that rusty front sheet metal and start fixing, but pretty pictures and such are nice to have

The Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual for 1958 covers up to 2-ton trucks. The 1959 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual Suppliment shows the changes for '59.

You would need both. I bought both originals on Ebay for a reasonable price but had to wait for it. Most sellers are real proud of them, especially the reprint sellers. They usually want the same price for each book even though the '58 book is nearly 2" thick and the '59 is about 3/8" thick.

Check around at a swap meet.

Most vendors have reprints of shop and assembly manauls, about $25 each, good as orig that I have seen or have. On older AD trucks manuals cover up to 2-ton and even COE trucks. Would think later TF style does too, not sure. Check the Links section here for vendors, and call or look in web sites. Web site book vendors have them, but as said much more money. I have paid $80 for such because I couldn't find one needed. Check around, and ebay is good source too. Sometimes I get mans from ebay for nearly nothing!
