I've been searching for a bit and can't find the correct compression fitting for the 3/16 copper line that feeds the head. It's the one that goes into the block at the oil distributor. The original fitting reduces down internally to about 1/16. I have a handful of the fittings that fit but do not reduce internally and the complete lines sold at Carter and the like do not include the fitting at the block, just the cap and the compression insert.

Does it even matter?

If so, any idea where to find one or what terms I should be searching?

Pics for reference.

[EDIT] I should add that with the standard compression fitting that is not internally reduced, oil is getting to all rockers at idle and it does not appear to be over oiling.

It would be easy enough to thread a plug into the fitting then drill it to the same size as the original. I assume it's too buggered up to use?

Since the downstream (rocker arm) side of the oil distributor has a check valve in it that only opens when the pressure to the main bearings is above 15 PSI, a restrictor isn't really necessary. Very few 216's have that much oil pressure below highway cruising speed, so the oil supply to the rocker arms is going to be intermittent at best, with or without a restrictor. If you think you really need one, drill and tap the fitting for a carburetor main jet. I have a few dozen Holley jets left over from my round track racing days that I use for that type of restrictor.

Yep. It's so worn the compression cap won't thread back on and the end in the block was crossed and snugged pretty good long before I got to it.
Wanted to try to find the correct fitting before making something.

Awesome. Thanks, Jerry! That's kinda what I was thinking and exactly the answer I was looking for.

Any thoughts on what oil pressure should be around at warm idle? I'm right at 14/15-ish driving around. Accelerating and cold start it's higher. Warm idle drops pretty low.

A 216 with any oil pressure at all at hot idle is a rare bird indeed! That's the reason for the oil distributor- - -to assure the bottom end gets lubed, even if the rocker arms don't. Those dipper troughs in the oil pan are there to keep the rods lubricated at low speed, idle and slightly above before the nozzles start squirting a stream across the pan for the dippers to hit as they're at the bottom of the stroke. It's possible to adapt an oil pump for a late model Chevy six (194-292) to a 216 which will almost double the pump volume and give a noticeable rise in oil pressure.

Good to know my 216 is actually still running as it should. 👍👍
