The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Inner fender treatment

Hey guys. So I’m trying to figure out what I want to do on my inner fenders and wheel side inner skirts. A couple of the fenders I’ve had sandblasted and they are bare right now while I repaired some rust spots. A couple of the fenders are new so they have the edp primer on them. Some of the chassis parts included the frame I’ve shot with PPG Deflfleet essential paint. So my question is what are you guys shooting in your inner fender areas? I believe the original was painted the body color. Are you guys painting like the original with the same body paint? Are you going black with a different paint or are you painting in some type of an under coating? I like the idea of an undercoating or something like that for paint chips from rocks. I’m going to be shooting the truck with Deltron, which is kind of pricey, so if I can do inner fenders with something else that would be great and get away with only one gallon of deltron. Thanks for any thoughts.

Well it’s a 54’ 3100

I painted the inner fenders on mine with epoxy primer and then 3 coats of satin black rustoleum. Looks good. John

I only use epoxy primer followed by one coat of satin/semi-gloss epoxy black.
